HOP ON OVER TO THE HUNT SLONEM POP UP SHOP

WHIMSICAL BUNNIES, BUTTERFLIES AND BIRDS
ARE IN THE BARN AT EAST HAMPTON GARDENS

The beach may beckon, but honestly, I’m more of a snow bunny. So don’t know about you but sunscreen be damned! I would rather wander through a gilded-age wonderland, the fantastical exotica world of world-renowned artist Hunt Slonem. As luck may have it,

I don’t have to go far from home because now through August, The Barn space at East Hamptons Gardens will showcase his style of “collectorating” – filling entire spaces with bright colors and unusual wall treatments, countless numbers of 19th-century paintings hang salon-style,  his collections of antique furniture and other goods precisely yet oh so casually arranged throughout. Can I move in? Now?

BUNNY HOP

OK, so I am intrigued….What am I going to discover if I peruse Hunt Slonem’s Hop Up Shop at The Barn?  True confessions, I am a lifelong bunny lover, had these fur babies in the family since childhood spent out East. Naturally, I am a long-time fan of Hunt’s hippity-hop work. So, like Updike says, Rabbit, Run.  Run away and escape into this fun without being frivolous world of what I consider – and so does East Hampton Gardens – acknowledge are decorative must-haves. So first, I think we all  know it’s not Easter. But I celebrate Bunnyhood every day — get out there behind the hedges and you’ll see these soft brown furry friends scatter as dawn breaks. It goes without saying that I am loving Hunt’s Rabbit Run gold-rimmed plates and bowls. Makes for a most elegant breakfast as I gaze out upon newly mowed lawns.

Of course, for those quickly devoured things like chocolates or nuts – hey, even a chocolate chip cookie ritual – there are the best-selling Bunny Portrait Plates, in a rainbow of colors. Getting more down to earth, my world of bunnies, birds and butterflies too comes to life without much imagination when I think about adding Hunt’s indoor-outdoor placemats, trays, coaster box sets, lacquered boxes, canvas tote bags, hats and yes, more!!! to my daily life. And did I mention I am madly desiring the cashmere throws? Dare I say the silk & velvet hand-embroidered decorative pillows are just so beach house-boudoir ready. Mine. Now.

EXOTICA GONE WILD

The East Hampton Gardens shop will feature the full collection of tabletop, bedding, blankets, decorative pillows, and gifts, all featuring Hunt’s “exotica” of bunny, bird and butterfly motifs manufactured in the finest mills and factories all over the world. It’s a scalable investment to buy in. His art may hang in the Whitney Museum and when paintings sell, the price is far from merely decorative. But the good news is this home collection is priced from $35-$950. And it’s brimming with seasonal items perfect for summer entertaining.

KRIS JENNER LOVES HUNT’S BUNNIES, BUTTERFLIES AND BIRDS

Yes, it’s true that Kris Jenner just loves his whimsical bunny, bird, and butterfly portraits. And his fine art fans including Ayesha & Steph Curry, J. Lo, Brooke Shields, and Kate Hudson to name just a few share his humor. With such a discerning clientele, it’s no wonder that vast care and consideration go into Hunt’s full collection of tabletop, bedding, blankets, decorative pillows, and gifts, all featuring his “exotica” of bunny, bird and butterfly motifs are manufactured in the finest mills and factories all over the world.
