Families already on the brink are now without resources at all. Local pantries and childcare centers do their best to help, but they need your financial support more than ever before. Read on for suggestions on how to assure there is food on the table for all in these uncertain times in East Hampton and neighboring towns. We’ve listed the pantries and food banks in the Hamptons that are feeding those who are having a difficult time right now. Help them help those who cannot help themselves at this tremendously challenging time.

The East Hampton Food Pantry serves East Hampton, Wainscott, Montauk and Amagansett. In a typical year, the EH Food Pantry serves 7,000 households. In this time of crisis, the numbers are climbing fast. Help them continue to sustain this lifeline to the Hamptons community. The EH Food Pantry is in dire need of financial support from individuals, businesses, fraternal and philanthropic organizations, religious institutions.The EH Pantry provides food (and more) in East Hampton, onsite at East Hampton High School and in their Amagansett satellite.

Provides nourishing meals to the homebound elderly as well as younger homebound residents in need. They depend on private donations to stay on the frontlines of the East End every day doing safety checks on those in isolation and assuring that they stay healthy. Before the COVID-19 crisis, 300 meals a week were delivered; no doubt the need has escalated. Help EH Meals on Wheels help those who can’t help themselves right now. In the past, Heart of the Hamptons distributed food to 120+ families, that is about 12,000 pounds of food. But it’s not enough to meet the rising need, some weeks bring a 50% increase from the week before. What is needed now is financial support, not donations of food or clothing, but help to feed and care for the continually increasing numbers of children, elderly and others in jeopardy at this time.

Their pantry is open Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. to noon but East End families are in need every day.

The Montauk Food Pantry was established in 1984 by Fran Ecker, Ines Fox, and Shelly Engstrom when they discovered that some children in the community came to school without sufficient food for lunch. The Montauk food pantry accepts non-perishable food items at these locations: Montauk Community Church, St. Therese Catholic Church, St. Therese Parish Center and Montauk Library. During the Coronavirus Pandemic the Montauk Food Pantry will distribute every two weeks. For more information, please check their website. Montauk Food Pantry’s hours are 5:30pm – 7:30pm.

To help safeguard the health of clients and volunteers, identical bags of food will be prepared in advance, for each family. Clients will receive the bags outside of the building, at the sidewalk entrance to the church basement. Monetary or food donations are appreciated.

This food pantry is located in the basement area social hall of The First Presbyterian (Old Whalers’ Church). It is open Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

East Hampton has the highest poverty rate in Suffolk County and the number keeps growing. The Springs Pantry which feeds 10,000 people annually under normal circumstances – and does see a greater need at this time – is  committed to alleviating hunger and offering nutrition education so that less fortunate families can make healthy and practical choices for themselves. Their pantry team extends throughout the communities of the Hamptons far beyond the volunteers who come to Springs Community Presbyterian Church every Wednesday to sort, pack, and distribute food.
