Come out and support Peconic Baykeeper’s clean water mission and our efforts to monitor and restore our threatened River Herring (Alewife) population! This “Fun Run/Walk” (clock but no chips) eco-friendly event will feature a course that follows part of Southampton’s Alewife migratory spawning run to Big Fresh Pond. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about these important fish and observe them (nature permitting) via a 5 minute trail walk after the race. Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 overall finishers. Race time starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. so please arrive on time to check in, stretch your fins, and race to the finish! Fish costumes and decor are highly encouraged! T-shirts included with registration. Register online by April 18th to guarantee availability and size!
*In the spirit of creating an eco-friendly event, we encourage participants to bring their own reusable water bottles. We have also registered to participate in the “East End Cleanup” for May 4th and encourage all participants to help us in our efforts by picking up trash at the park and along the race route.
