Hamptons Flow August 9

Flo Anthony —

Jennifer Lopez is back in Los Angeles after spending most of the summer at her mansion on Bay Lane in Water Mill. While in the Hamptons, she relaxed with her 15- year-old teenager, Emme, her step-daughter with Ben Affleck, Violet, 18,  manager Benny Medina and friends, rode bicycles, dined out and shopped.

Also, while in Water Mill, she threw a pull-out-all-the-stops 55th birthday party for herself. She certainly had the room. Her back yard is three acres. (She bought the eight-bedroom house in 2013 for $10 million, which seems like a bargain today.) So she threw herself what she deemed a Bridgerton-themed party, complete with liveried footman, white horse and carriage, a quadrille (with live orchestra and costumed dancers) and forced frolics.

She invited her mother and at least 40 friends. Hotelier Mayank Dwivedi said the Lopez staff called his hotels looking for rooms for 40 people to be booked into one hotel! Dwivedi has part interest in the Maidstone in East Hampton (19 rooms) and the Capri in Southampton (bigger, with 30 rooms). But there is no hotel, he said, that could handle 40 or 50 guests, in July!

As always, there were critics who noted that the festivities seem to have confused Bridgerton with Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” At least JLo resembled a Disney princess.

Real Estate

Ben Ashkenazy and his wife, Debra, have put their 76-acre equestrian farm in Water Mill on the market for $125 million. The era of online leveling has arrived: the property is listed on Zillow: 165 Cooks Lane, if you want to see the 45 pictures.

Zillow informs us that it has eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms and is 20,ooo square feet. Monthly payments, if one financed it, would come to $884,969 a month. Thank you Zillow for helping us calculate that.

Film

Cuba Gooding Jr. recently hosted a private screening of his latest film, “The Firing Squad,” at Grey/Ven CEO Scott Weissman’s estate in East Hampton. Others at the screening included Marc Siden, the CEO of Cloud Water Brands, Representative Fabian Basabe of the Florida Legislature, and Claudine De Niro, a real estate broker in Miami and New York, and Gooding’s girlfriend. (She was previously married to Robert De Niro’s son.)
Gooding co-stars in “The Firing Squad” with James Barrington and Kevin Sorbo. The Christian film is based on a true story about prisoners who find Christ as they await execution in an Indonesian run prison.

Cuba told the TV entertainment show “Extra” that his Christianity helped get him through his rough patch over the past few years when he was accused of sexually assaulting several women. One of the reported highlights of the film is Gooding’s moving rendition of “Amazing Grace.” Singing genes run in his family. His late father, Cuba Gooding Sr. was the lead singer of the Main Ingredient (“Everybody Plays the Fool”) …

Sightings

Jay-Z taking a walk with pals on Tuesday, August 6, in East Hampton, wearing a white bucket hat (his signature) and black shorts…

Look at how tall Brooke Shields’ daughter, Grier Henchy, 17, has become. She was a grand marshal of the teen portion of the Race of Hope, a 5K event to raise money for research on depression. You remember that Grier’s mom was one of the first celebrities to speak openly about her own depression.

That looked like Eric Schmidt (former CEO of Google) taking off in his Gulfstream G650 from  Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach, on his way to Bergen, Norway. He said he had considered buying TikTok, so what’s on his mind now? Buying Iceland?
