Since its inception in 1976, SWCRF has directed over $120 million towards pioneering collaborative research, supporting over 200 investigators worldwide. Their collaborative approach has yielded groundbreaking treatments, such as a highly effective therapy for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), developed in partnership with the Shanghai Institute of Hematology, significantly improving survival rates. Recently, SWCRF-funded research led to an FDA-approved medication that reduces lung cancer tumors by targeting the KRAS protein, and an innovative two-drug therapy for brain tumors. Ongoing studies continue to explore the impact of aging on ovarian cancer and other critical research areas, many of which are in clinical trials.
