The clouds parted to bring forth a beautiful night to celebrate the successes of turning Southampton Hospital into a model of what a smaller market medical facility can be. Bravo to the management under Bob Chaloner and staff, the lead donors, the doctors and nurses, and the scores of people who gave their support with their checkbooks. Now connected to Stony Brook Medical, Southampton Hospital can now provide unparalleled emergency care to the East End. The Jenny and John Paulsen Emergency Care Unit , the beneficiary of this year’s event, is the sole provider of such care to 25,000 patients a year. We are lucky this hospital is there for us and having had an emergency personally, I am a living example.
The night brought in over $1.5 million for the hospital. Honorees included the Catsimatidis family, the Mosler family, plus the President’s committee under long time booster and hospital champion, Jean Shafiroff and husband Marty.
