THE TIMBERLAKE KERFUFFLE
By Flo Anthony–
Justin Timberlake was arrested on June 18, shortly after midnight, in Sag Harbor on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. That followed an evening of drinks with friends at the American Hotel on Main Street. Jacob Bernstein, in The New York Times, reported that at the police station, which is behind the American Hotel, “… he handed over his wedding ring, his phone, his baseball cap, his watch, his wallet, a vape pen, and green and blue papers, the sort used for rolling marijuana, according to the police report. (In 2011, the singer told Playboy that he liked cannabis because it helps him to ‘stop thinking.’)”

He had apparently stopped thinking when he left the American Hotel.
On his release the next morning, the superstar’s attorney, Edward Burke, issued this statement, “We look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time.” Burke added that his legal team is “currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”

Let’s note that his mug shot, released by the Sag Harbor Police Department, not known for flattering lighting, has Timberlake looking every bit as good as the cover boy he was at NSYNCH. He is not only a singer, piano-player and dancer, but, at age 43, he is a raconteur, fashion plate, and composer of hit songs able to rhyme “selfish” and “jealous.” He has 73 million followers on Instagram and, despite his acknowledgement of getting plastered (though never on stage), he is considered one of the good guys, a father of two sons, and, so far, a man in a 12-year marriage. He has taken up golf in a serious way.

Timberlake will resume his Forget Tomorrow World Tour at the United Center in Chicago on June 21 and 22 before returning to New York to perform at Madison Square Garden on June 25 and 26.
Celebrities rushed to Timberlake’s defense. Billy Joel was spotted having lunch at the American Hotel on June 18. Before jumping on his Vespa, the Piano Man told reporters outside the hotel, “Judge not lest ye be judged.” On the June 19 episode of CBS Mornings, Gayle King said Timberlake “is a really, really great guy.”
“This is clearly a mistake,” she said. “I bet nobody knows it more than he.”
Timberlake’s wife, Jessica Biel, was in New York City, where she was filming the series “Better Sister” with Elizabeth Banks. Reports say she is irked.
