With JLo, Men Go, Some Houses Stay
By Flo Anthony–
In the midst of divorce rumors from her husband, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez had fun throughout the Hamptons with her 16-year-old child, Emme. It’s no surprise to see Jlo in these parts. She has owned an eight-bedroom home in Water Mill since 2013. In JLo years, that’s a long-lasting relationship.
She bought it for $10 million when she was still married to Marc Anthony, husband No. 3, with whom she had twins Emme and Max. But by then it was clear that was a mistake. In 2014, after her divorce, she was involved with a back-up dancer named Beau Smart.
They were together until she had a fling with Drake over the holidays in 2016, followed by her much-publicized (in New York, at least) relationship with the former Yankees’ home-run sensation Alex Rodriguez, known to headline writers as A-Rod.
They met in February 2017 and there followed a two-year engagement and many photographs. The couple jointly announced the end of their engagement in April of 2021.
Many of the properties they bought jointly were quickly sold. The Manhattan condo on Park Avenue, bought in 2017, was sold in 2019 for a $2 million profit. They bought a Malibu beach house in 2019, then sold it in 2020.
The mansion they bought together on Star Island in Miami is another story. They paid $32.5 million for the waterfront mansion with a private dock just a year before they called it quits. Only their lawyers know for sure who owns it now, but as far as we know, it has not been sold.
Miami is a favorite landing spot for JLo and for Marc Anthony, so it only makes sense for her to have a home there. It is also where she shot her video for her hot 2021 song “Cambia El Paso.”
After A-Rod, came JLo’s second go-round with Affleck. They had met in 2002, been engaged, and on the verge of a wedding in 2004 when they called it off, citing intense media pressure.
She married Marc Anthony, Affleck married Jennifer Garner. They both had children. Many years passed.
When they were both free, it rekindled. They professed admiration for the other’s intelligence, accomplishments, drive and souls. They still attracted media attention, but they had become more adept at ducking lenses. Besides, they were now in their 50s.
They collaborated on the 2024 Amazon Prime documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which, thankfully, was not about her relationship with Affleck, but about her relationship with herself., which, presumably, continues. (She financed the documentary to the tune of $20 million. Reviews generally considered it wasted money.)
In 2023, Affleck finally became Lopez’s husband No. 4.
Once they were together, the real estate bug bit bigtime. Affleck owned an 87-acre spread outside of Savannah, GA, where they celebrated their wedding. But Savannah is not a media center.
Jlo in Savannah? Not for long.
Instead last year they bought a $60 million mansion in the 90210 area code. In other words, Beverly Hills. (It may be up for sale, but who knows. It’s a bit big for just the Lopez family.)
It is rumored that Ms. Lopez has jurisdiction over Beverly Hills, so Mr. Affleck has rented somewhere else. He and his children with Garner are seen shopping in Los Angeles and he is back to wearing his usual plaid shirt buying groceries at Whole Foods.
Meanwhile Jennifer Lopez is enjoying the Hamptons, where Vogue magazine commented on the white trousers she wore in a photo posted by Steve Mackey, her longtime friend, vocal coach and designated summer pal along with Benny Medina, her manager.
In an attempt to up sales of her video, and perhaps pour gasoline on the rumors of the breakup with Affleck, Medina and Mackey posted a music video of “Cambia El Paso” on Instagram. Known as the break-up song, it has a line in it that translates, “He doesn’t deserve to have her in his arms.”
On another Instagram post she was also seen having a late lunch at Sant Ambroeus in East Hampton.
She has also been seen shopping wearing what some fawning magazines and news media called a “dainty pink Bridgerton” maxi dress, and what looks to us more like a dowdy nap schmatta. We’ll call is a “naperton” dress, and we’re sure everyone soon will be wearing one around town.
