Join us for an author talk with Nanci LaGarenne, as she discusses her latest book “Scape Ghost”
A fictional solving of a famous unsolved case. In the early summer of 1962 in San Francisco, three inmates escaped Alcatraz. Presumed dead after the assumption they could never have survived the water, they became the most famous escapees of that inescapable island. But what if they did survive?

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Nanci LaGarenne moved to the woods of East Hampton over thirty years ago. Leaving her job as a teaching assistant with Autistic children at PS 236, she continued to raise her sons on the East End, where as a teen she spent summers working in Montauk. She was a waitress and hostess/cashier at The Buttery cafe on Newtown Lane and was later hired by The Retreat. She ran for East Hampton Trustee in 2011. When not fighting for groundwater and aquifer protection on the East End of Long Island, she now writes full time. Her other books are Cheap Fish and the sequel “The Bitter End”, both murder mysteries set in Montauk, and Refuge, a tale of survival from abuse and friendship and new beginnings set in Brooklyn and Ireland.
Scape Ghost is available at Bookhampton and Homeport.
